Who is running an r7000 GS rd without any mods or extension links over 34t?

What size cassette?

Works fine with sram 11/36, just some B screw adjustment

Ran it for a bit on a cannondale slate with 50/34 chainrings. Only issue was a slack chain in small/small

it's all down to b screw length

I'm running the ultegra r8000 equivalent with an 11-34 on the back, and absoluteblack 46/30 super compact front, and no probs. Could probably lose a couple of links on the chain, but just don't go small to small

More the other way, as in bigger cassette size

Cassette wise 11-40 is my choice (slx)

Wondered if anyone had managed it that's all

@jonnboi but I've already got the r7000 lol

Don't need to do it just inquisitive about what people have achieved

I have it working with a 42T in 1x

you weren't ever thinking you were going to get a 105 GS mech to run a 40T cassette AND a double were you?

I'm new to gravel and rd but enjoy the road Speed

Currently have 8 speed 11-32 but coming from 12 speed 10-51 find it gappy obviously

I've got in the spares a couple of 105 GS rear mechs, an 11-42 cassette, a 40t apex crank.

Currently have a 50/34 105 crank on the bike so would just need shifters.

If I buy the 105 shifters then I can trial both options and see what I like most with minimal fuss

Double setup with 50/34 and 11-32 cassette

Single setup with 40t front ring and 11-40/42 rear

Just seeing what's real life workable whilst deliberating

I have an ultegra 50/34 double chair set and changed to an r8000 GS rear mech, specifically to enable a larger cassette. I think I have an 11-40, but I set it up a few years ago and can't remember, exactly.

Let me check, when I get a mo...

Yes I have run that cassette for two years. It was perfect for the Fred Whitton

I run on my tcr 34/50 front and slx 11-40 cassette on the rear. Wind out b screw works fine.

ran it like this for two years.

My wife ran 11-40 with 46/34 with R8000. It worked ok, but changing to GRX, it does shift better

...so, I checked, and the cassette is 11-40 (CS-M8000)

R8000 & R7000 are both 39t capacity, BTW

50/34 and 40T should work fine. My Amazon has been set up like that for years with the Ultegra mech. I doubt the 105 is any different.
