Got a boost adapter for a 142 rear wheel with a 6mm spacer for one side, so need to re dish.
My head is not the best at the moment, am I just re-dishing 3mm to the non drive side?
Yeah, done it a couple of times, just back off the drive side spokes a couple of turns, then tension the non drive a couple of turns at a time until it's moved over, a quick squirt of some penetrator helps the day before doing it, only issue may be spoke lengths, but you'll see the drive side threads showing if that is an issue.
Cool cheers. I've done it before ( and even built a couple of wheels), just needed clarification as my head doesn't seem to be working today... Suppose it'd been obvious if went the wrong way though!!
Of the two wheels I had that needed doing, one had constant issues mainly due to the spokes been too short - and the other one pretzeled itself when I snapped a couple of spokes...
Conversely I have four different wheel that I've re dished for boost use and they're all still running fine.
Just think how small an amount it is to move the rim.
FWIW I've done it both times solely by adding tension to one side- I doubt I've ever had a well used wheel that wouldn't benefit from a bit more tension in it, unless it's one I've already had to redo.
But also, I've come to prefer the sort that add a spacer on both sides, the downside is it's harder to fit the wheel into the bike so it's not good if you need to take both off to put it in a car or similar, but otherwise how often do you take the back wheel out?
