Thinking about something a bit faster on the rear but want to keep same brand.
Anyone run this combo?
been loving this combo all winter. answered everything I've thrown at them, just took delivery of another rubber queen for the front and two more mountain kings for the back.
Where are you riding?
The MK2 is a really good tread pattern but the carcass is a bit thin in Protection version, was great in the woods down south, but not really up to handling the rockier trails oop north.
Mainly around the midlands but occassional trips to rocky Wales. Never suffered running purgs or dampfs which also have thinnish walls in Wales before.
I use this combo, both in the BC rubber, work brilliantly.
What about the other way round? The more aggressive MK2 up front and the shallower TK at the back?
Presumably, with the shallower tread TK having a lower rolling resistance, putting it on the back would be generally viewed as a good thing, it makes best use of the combo? My experience of the RC MK2 as a front tyre through the gloop of this winter is good and I'm looking forward to seeing how it behaves on the drying trails.
So my tuppence worth is swap from your OP ๐
I run a race king rear, works great...Just don't go anywhere wet
Cheers folks
2.2 Tk is just slightly smaller than a 2.4 mk2. 2.2 mk2 is lots smaller than a 2.2tk and wouldn't really be called a high volume tyre.
I've run 2.4 mk2 front and rear and been very happy.
My mistake I'm on an RQ 2.2 front MK 2.2 rear good combo in all but the worst mud.
