In the making of the MTB film documentary Trails I sat down with Aaron Gray, the founder of the Tayside Trail Association (TTA), Graeme Berry (the TTA chairman) and Mike Clyne (a TTA dig lead) for many hours to interview them. I asked each of them 60+ questions. I could only fit a small amount of the questions and their answers into the documentary.
So, on my YouTube channel North3rdMedia I am putting up a series videos which show their lightly edited interviews starting with Aaron. The questions cover such things as how did they gain trust, how are they funded, recruitment challenges, and how e-bikes impact trails. Some interesting responses you may want to hear, plus hints and tips in setting up your own trail association.
The TTA were one of the first trail associations set up in Scotland with the help of Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS). This year they won the DMBinS Trail Association of the Year 2025 award.Â
Thank you to Graeme, Mike and Aaron for taking the time to be interviewed and the rest of the TTA crew for making the film possible.
