[Closed] Racing a geared bike as a SS with the gears disconnected. OK or not ?

Preparing for BBF and I'll be taking a spare bike.
I've converted the race bike to SS.
It's highly unlikely I'll need the spare bike as I've got spare wheels for the race bike, so I don't want to spend time swapping it from Rohloff to SS, only to swap it back again for MM, where I'll be racing on a Rohloff.

It's not like the UCI have got rules for this, so what's the general opinion ?
Leave it as it is, but disconnect the click box from the hub, tape it to the frame and put up with the weight penalty ?

I ended up doing that riding the Trans Cambrian on sunday. The Rohloff clickbox got gunged up, susbsequent "hard" gear changes knackered the cable liner. Leaving me with a singlespeed (in a high gear) with the added weight of a Rohloff. Not impressed...

if you feel the answer to the question is "no", review the need to ask the question ๐Ÿ˜‰

ir_bandito, it's worth carrying an 8mm spanner. I always used to have one taped to the seat stay on the Lynskey on epic rides as it's useful for adjusting the sliding dropouts to take up chain wear as well.
