Just putting the finishing touches to a bike using a Rohloff.

I was planning on 36t - 16t as I have the necessary bits.

Reading online suggests 38t - 16t is the lowest I should go on a 29er.

The bike will be used for longer rides on a mixture of routes.

I'm happy to get another ring but equally would like to use what I already have 🙂

What are other folks running?

Hi i cant remember where it was but a couple of years ago they dropped the gearing allowed to a lower gear. Something like 34/16 iirc. I even posted a thread on here a about it actually I'll have a look

I have 36:16 but on a 26er, I think Rohloff's suggestions are on the cautious side.

I used 38/16 on my 26er, when I moved it all to a 29er I changed to 34/16 to maintain ratios. I like to spin and it's fine for me.
