Heading off on a 3 day tour with a disorganised friend tomorrow. He has a 29er and has just realised he has no spare tubes ๐ Digging thru my shed I have a choice of 700 x 32/47 tubes from my hybrid, or 26" MTB tubes. In a pinch (intentional pun!) which would be better? The 700C are the right circumference but too narrow for an MTB tyre, while the 26" ones are the right thickness but smaller in circumference. Thanks.
26" work fine.
Great - we're trying both at this very moment to see which is the better fit....
I'd go by width, probably not much in it though.
Yep, both seem to be able to do the job - isn't rubber a wonderful thing - but the 26" tubes are a lot thicker even when stretched to 29er size, so they'd probably offer more protection.
Now, just got to find him a sleeping mat ๐ before we head off tomorrow...
