When did buying quick links become so annoying, 1st stage of the bike industry scam was making them non reusable, 2nd stage was selling only one side and calling it a link, by that rationale they should describe their chains as 252 links not 126, at least Sunrace call a full link a link, Sjs and merlin sell shimano links, description says pack of 2 but show 4 pieces yet crc, wiggle sell same 2 pack roughly the same price but show 2 pieces, Sram links are sold as one side, basically that's half a link in my book.
2 pack or pack of 2 has lost all meaning, and
what is the point of selling one side of a quick link, its moronic.
I always reuse my 12spd links. Never had a problem
I’ve never seen Sram (or any other brand) selling only 1 half of a quick link.
Often with Sram ones the oil slick ones are really cheap online - sure I’ve paid £3.99 or maybe even less per full link.
The only 12 speed ones I’ve seen sold as reusable are KMC - but they’re quite expensive accordingly.
Link to the single link?
That has to be a mistake.
Late April 1st post ?
Post a link 🤔 ?
I allways re use them. Got a job lot of cheap eBay ones. After a good number of times of use they feel a bit loose, and can now be undone fairly easy by hand. Never actually snapped though. I carry a spare so just going to use it to see if it will eventually break
Well that's probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while (and I'm trying to follow the rules for kids sitting non exam exams set by the exam board)
"Single plate only. If you require a complete joining link you will need to order 2"
Has anyone anywhere ever needed just one side?
Just checked the little box of spare quick links in my bum bag. The 12 speed sram are definitely a pair. Still shrink wrapped to the card from when I bought them from my lbs a bit over a year ago. Same as the 11s and 10s in there.
Anyone using Sram/KMC links on a Shimano chain?
I reuse links and I've even used an 11sp link on a 12sp chain in an emergency when it snapped 15 miles from home.
@singlespeedstu wife has a oil slick Sram on an SLX chain, no issues after 4 rides.
Cheers.
I’ve just fitted a brand new kmc 11 speed chain and used a 10 speed link. It’s on a bike with 10 speed cassette though. Wanted to use up old 10s bits and keep the 11s for spare on 11 or 12 speed bikes
I’d be interested if anyone knows of there is any actual difference between older and newer quick links? To my mind they look and behave exactly the same and I have reused my Shimano 12 speed one about 5 times now - it still clicks together firmly like it ever did.

I just had the pin and plate separate on a shimano one. However, it had been reused a few times (but probably not more than about 5 times). Also, it didn't fail in use - it failed on disassembly.
SJScycles 4 pack of sram eagle links = 2 full links, definitely confusing, think it started with 12speed, back when we were all on 10speed a link meant a full link.
