Road cyclist passed me this morning with a moderately bright pulsing rear light. Looked good, not as distracting as a flashing light or as strong as some available(I find some super bright lights counter productive at times).

Anyone any ideas what it could have been?

Edit: It was round in shape also.

I've got some Lezyne lights that have a pulsing option. They are small and round, could have been one of those

There's loads out there. I've got an Exposure Tracer that does that.

My guess would be a TraceR. Love mine.
Use a Moon Shield (I think) on my MTB for similar reasons.

Yeah, sounds like an Exposure TraceR.
Brilliant lights. Has a brake light function too when it flares brighter and turns solid when it detects slowing down.

Cheers all will check out the suggestions. I'll change the description to more of a throbbing light that than on/off pulsing. It also seemed to be mounted to the seat rails. Very neat under seat.

Knogg Mini Chippys do this as do The Rock Bros Xlite 100

My Tracer's don't throb or pulse like a heart beat like the others above do. They're either on or have a flash flash flassssh pattern.

My cheap rechargeable does the pulsing thing as well as loads of other types of flashing effects. Relatively big so shows up well.

If it's of interest in search out the cost and where I got it.

Moon Nebula has a pulsing mode, as well as an assortment of steady and flashing modes.

Exposure Blaze here. Lasts for hours on pulse. I don’t go on the roads without it and I feel most cars give me a wider berth since I started using it during the day.

My cheap rechargeable

Think it's an Amazon jobbie. I've had a couple, not as bright as Moon lights, so for daytime use I go for something else these days. Good value, though.

I've got one of these.

https://magicshineuk.com/product/seemee-200/

It's a bit spendy but it's really excellent and has an accelerometer so it goes brighter when you brake (if you choose that mode) Battery lasts for hours and hours in flash mode. It's got a downward flood light too so it creates a pool of light behind you.

Considering the prices some folks pay for front lights I don't think that Magicshine is overly expensive at all.

Another guess at the Exposure TraceR. I've got one with the saddle rail mount. Brilliant light and I find the constant on with flashing gives you the best of both types of light.

I did run a moon nebula on the commuter for a couple of years, until I got home one day to find it was no longer on the bike 🙁 Excellent example of why you should run two rear lights.

Exposure Blaze. Most cars don't pass unless safe, and then give at least an extra metre. That's in the daylight!

I’ve added a new set up to my winter commute, so Tracr rear, exposure double ender on helmet and now a cheap red cob light, mounted face down on the top tube. This lights up the front triangle, water bottle and chainset, and gives massive side visibility and lets me see my water bottle/ cage etc when in complete darkness. I am also hoping it gives drivers a better idea about what distance I am away.

TraceR here too. Excellent light very well built. Also have front Trace which is similar. 3 level settings each with constant or pulse.
