I've got some too, my kit came with 2 pairs of fins and 4 pairs of pads - fitted them in August and they're still like new.

Worth noting the fins are HUGE, if you're expecting Shimano-esq cool fins you might be in for a shock.

Buy some and throw them in your box for the Alps or something.

Would any of the models work with Shimano BR-M355?

doesn't mention any Shimano models below M4xx.

I use these after a similar PSA earlier on this year in my XT brakes. Brilliant. For the money a no brainer.

The fins do look a bit odd mind.

£15 - 4 pairs

why do I get £59.98 for 4 pairs then?

<edit> I see there are 2 pairs in in pack

Can you run the pads without the fins?

They no longer take PayPal?

Interesting choice, given their spotty security history. Iwas about to buy, think I'll give thema miss.

No, nor can you run the fins without fin specific pads. The back plates are wafer thin.

Nor can you (last time I checked) buy fin specific pads on their own, you have to buy the kit, which sort of limits the reusable nature of the fins.

I don't think they were ever a big hit for SS.

TBH they're MASSIVE over-kill for usual UK riding, you don't need massive heat sinks when you're splashing through frigid puddles, frankly you don't need them when it's 25c and dusty, especially with the Kevlar pads, well I'm sure there are a few places where you might cook a brake in the UK, but for me they're only really much use on long, brake draggy descents in the Alps, but even that's only 'belt and braces' I haven't cooked a brake in years.

You can buy replacement pads. I think you have to use the magic coins.

From the product details page:

Do not attempt to run Arctic pads without fins or standard pads with fins - they will not work!

Guess not

My mates still laugh and point at mine since I fitted them in the Alps. But they work, stop well, are quiet, and are lasting well too. The opposite to my previous SS brakepad experience 🙂

May buy some more

cheers OP

I did think it would be possible to trim off the top of the fin to just have the backing plate bit. Be a bit more discrete for UK use, and still have a bit of heat sink.

Also wondering if the Uber bike replacement pads for their finned brake pads would work with the Superstar fins, similarly they have a thin backing plate on the pad too. Although to be honest the Uber fins look much better anyway, more like the Shimano ones.

Well I've ordered some anyway as they will fit all my bikes and good to have spares handy.

My mates still laugh and point

Are you sure that's just down to your brake pads?

Looks like S2. 355/395 uses Deore M515 pads.

Cheers for that info, not one of the ones in stock, wasn't desperate for pads but thought it might be another bike bit to put in the pre-Brexit price hike spares box. 😉
