How often do offers like this come up? Is it an annual thing?

Billy's is connected to the Salsa/Surly importer. I presume this is old stock that us dealers don't want.

Hmmm spearfish or horsethief both look good and that moonlander looks outrageous. I am "fat-curious". Damn you wwaswas 🙂

Salsa are having a whole revamp next year, FSers getting split pivots and shorter chainstays, hardtails just getting shorter stays. And Salsa announced that ages ago. So this years stock has probably been harder to sell and will actualy be 'old' rather than just the wrong colour next year.

Doesnt make it any worse, bikes dont get worse just because someyhing newer is better, just harder to sell.

Currently looking for a new bike for general trail riding mainly on Cannock chase, with maybe the odd welsh trip/llandegla and the peak district thrown in.Which bike do you lot think would be most suitable for that riding out of the salsas? The horsethief caught my eye but is it more of a heavy all mountain type of bike?,maybe the spearfish would be better or are they more suited to racing whippets?or should I be looking elsewhere? These for £1150 seem good value to me and I don't want to spend any more than that.I have also been looking at the giant trance/anthem options and also a couple of hardtails- genesis high latitude and on ones.
What dya reckon peoples?
By the way I am not slightly interested in bling, the latest must haves, etc.

Well they had a similar sale this time last year and as far as i can tell no major updates were made, infact the theif seems specced down on the previous years model iirc it came with full slx and revs? (only looked at the horsetheif personally) so would seem to be a regular thing (stock depending ofc)...

The Spearfish is heavy and slacker than average for an XC bike, but Gee races one sucessfully (but then he's paid to do that). For trail centers I'd probably say the Spearfish as you're only really after some grip and a modicum of comfort/bump absorbtion for ~2 hours. The Horsethief would be great in the Peaks though!

The Spearfish will undoubtably be faster round any lap if you've got the skills, balls and fitness to ride it hard, but the Horsethief probably more fun on the way down if it's rocky/jumpy/bumpy/drops(y) and probably more flattering to your skills.

Damn you STW, I just bought the last Spearfish 2 in the UK.

Should be awesome for long rides in the Pentlands 🙂
