Yeah, meant to post about this myself, after seeing article on bikeradar yesterday.
They have kept this premium use for free very quiet, I've joined the beta program back in Jan 2018 iirc and I've had no e-mail.
Hoping this free premium includes sending them GPX(?) route to them to make a "magic roads" virtual representation of it.
Have to say I hate the format RGT went to ~12 months ago, where you now have to run game and one device such as Windows PC and then have to use your mobile as a permanently on remote control, uses a lot of mobile battery for me (as does Zwift Companion app to be fair).
I've had a play on RGT (with the free bit) and it seems very good. Connects to my kit with no problems - doesn't seem to drop out and the riding is fun.
So far only done a few routes but it feels nice.
Not much difference to Zwift tbh, although I do like the Canary Wharf loop with the sprint in the middle.
It does have a slightly better feel when riding 'normal' roads. More open and natural than Zwift but, could that just be the fact that it's different.
Uploading GPX files could be the game changer for me. I've tried a couple and they don't seem to recognize there is a file attached. Always get an email return saying no file found.
A potential downside is that I like the trainer difficulty option on Zwift as I use a 1 x 10 mtb with low range rear cassette (permanent bike set up built from a bag of bits) If I'm going to switch to RGT I'd need to sort the gears out properly.
From memory, I think there is a trainer difficulty type setting in RGT, on the mobile while your "game device" is in a virtual ride world.
