PC1031 - £15.40
PC1051 - £17.80
PC1071 - £27.80
PC1091 - £29.80

They do they charge £3.90 delivery though, so it might be necessary to buy a couple in order to get the best bargain?

Oh - and they've got EVOC backpacks up there too.

not targeting the OP specifically (there's been a number of these recently) but offers where the link effectively earn the poster cash/credit seem pretty much to be trade ads?

I think stw should get accounts for these places and then refer "all" of us - since apparently we never donate via classifieds etc.

If they felt the need they could be up-front about it and state on the link what they stand to gain

I did try and say it's not about you.

I was just wondering where the line between trade/'I'm getting paid for posting this' stopped and PSA started?

😆

I can see your point and that it's hard to draw a line. In a similar vein, I like to follow folks blogs but I'm seeing an increasing number linking up with Adwords and the likes to generate a (small?) income and I'm not sure I like that either.

If it bothers you but you're still interested Right-click the link, opy link location, paste into new tab address bar then backspace out the user details (in Firefox, YBrowserMV).

Take that, scheming Capitalist pigs!

See, on the one hand I disagree with it, on the other hand I made about £30 posting my myprotein link (with a long note explaining that it was a referal doodahh) allong with my rpefered energy drink recipie on a "do you use an energy drink" thread!

I think as long as you're explicitly clear that there's a conflict of intrest then it's Ok. But I wouldn't start a thread saying 5% off and free postage at myprotein, here's my referal/link.

Well, like with trading on classifieds, you could have made it explicit that as well as helping us you were also helping you.

Not a bad idea for stw to do this though surely...wonders if our buying power could get us good deals on chains in general

The SportPursuit business model seems to be fairly efficient - they only buy what they have orders for - but I can see that STW might not want to "favour" one particular brand. The other issue would be that of the delivery lead times. Seeing the amount of grief some companies get for not delivering next day, there would be a mass wringing of hands at having to wait weeks 🙂

FWIW I will buy some tonight and use your link - I assume it costs me nothing whether i do this or the direct way.

£19.30 is considered cheap for a chain? 😯

I wouldn't pay more than a tenner for one.

So where are these sub-£10 chains at then? I ask as a registered cheapskate who had to part with about £13 last time I bought a 9 speed chain.

well.. that's what you get for being trendy and switching to 9 speed johnners

8speed FTW, Cassettes cost less than a tenner too, weigh around the same as a 9/10spd XT, shift better and are more durable

I personally don't think they are anything like trade ads.
It is not the sportspursuit customer's business, they just benefit from referring new customers, so why not do a PSA on the forum?
A few have followed my link and I'm chuffed - all it means is I get a fiver off - but I have to buy something else, so it costs me money really!
