Cheers 40t expander sprocket ordered for my new Salsa Spearfish
fudge, do you happen to know what BB is fitted to your newly purchased older model spearfish?
I bought the praxis pf30 73mm from sustainable cycles.
£55.99
Right, ok thanks for that, I thought it may be a BB30.
No bb30 is smaller
Ok, thanks for confirming.
Maybe a stupid question but an angleset, say a +/-1 degree set, do they allow that option only? That is you set it up 1 degree steeper or slacker. Or do they allow settings within that range so for example you could put it back to 0 if wanted?
Sorry for hijack but considering tinkering and the code helps this urge.
+ or - only.
There's no adjustability.
Thanks ssstu. If I remember correctly you had an ltc and angleset didn't you? Would you recommend a tweek? Did it make much difference?
Yep still have that bike.Yes it made a big difference for the better.
Bike has angleset, reducer bushes in the shock and a 160 fork for maximum slack.
Sounds fun...and does it still do it's thing uphill well too? If so end of week money spending here we come.
cheers, for £24 I'll give a oval ring a go!
Magic, also giving this oval black magic a bash...
Hmm Angle headset is tempting at that price, (as is a spare expander and an oval ring) if it wasn't so confusing
ZS44-ZS56 with tapered forks (Its a 2012 Commencal Meta V3) which they don't do as no room for two sets of internal bearings top and bottom as Rick confirmed here -

Can I interchange a ZS44 for an EC44 top cup? I'm presuming it will just alter my stem height so as long as I have enough spare steerer length it should be okay (I could remove a couple of spacers)
Anyone know how proud the EC44 sits of the top of the headtube?
Yep, thzt should be right as long as you have enough spacers to remove for the extra stack of the external cup at the top. It'll give you the stack heights in the details somewhere.
Thanks for the PSA and heads up on the oval ring. worth trying at that price.
cheers Woodster, I suspected as much
"Cup Stack height: 3.5mm - Total upper stack height inc bearing cover: 15mm"
So I need around 15mm of spare steerer over what I have now (minus whatever the current (not alot) stack height of my ZS cups are)
Think I'll nip home at lunchtime and get the tape measure out
does it still do it's thing uphill well too?
Yep.
Still climbs fine.
