Ok, I must have funny shaped feet because I rub my heels against the swing arm and have gone through the paint and now the metal is starting to oxidise.
So, clean and then apply clear nail varnish - LBS recommendation - then need some form of protection. Is this where helicopter tape come in, or can you juts buy thick sticky-back plastic. I only need small amounts - any suggestions on best material and sources
Thanks in advance
Self amalgamating tape from b&q. Or an old inner tube and leccy tape.

Another vote for amalgamating tape. I also use it for wrapping gear and brake cables together, protects the frame and stops them from rattling about.
I do that too. I use electrical tape and reapply every year or so. Heli tape is fine but i find it's a ballache to do perfect, looks crap if not perfect and takes paint off if you remove.
Thanks - some great help there. Nick you confirmed my thoughts on heli tape.
wrapped my swingarm and rear stays with lengths of inner tube and black tape looks a bit agricultural but paintwork underneath is blemish free
