Just finished my 2nd day in 2 weeks on the Gawton trails using flyup downhill's brilliant uplift.
After 3 or 4 days of dry weather the trails were running really well.
We started on HSD for a warm up, only to be called over to a corner on proper job to help out with a lad who had a nasty gash on his knee. One of our lads has just finshed an FPOS first aid course and had a rucksack full of steristrips and wound dressings. After 2hrs of to-ing and fro-ing we helped the paramedics carry him down to the waiting 4x4 ambulance.
Four runs later the afore mentioned FPOS trained lad fell off on the same jump and wrecked his shoulder. After a few more proper jobs we did a couple on Super tavi and egypt and finished the day on Proper Job again. I stopped after 10 runs my mates did 11, without the 2 hr rescue mission we could easily have hit 16 runs.
I gotta say the trails are some of the best I've ridden, proper job flows so well and you can hit it as fast as you like, or take the chicken runs (like me). Super tavi and egypt were so good today, loads of grip from drying out loam and mud.
Despite all the shenanigans, Simon of flyupdownhill worked tirelessly to keep things running fast and smooth.
This is an awesome new resource for the south west, 45 mins from Exeter. If you haven't been you need to give it a go, the uplift runs friday to monday.
