It was tough going back in the late '80's on a Stumpjumper with 18 gears

This was a public information film about the loneliness of remote hill farming, right? Travelling for hours to visit a 'lady friend', who happens to be out, and on the way sinking 3/4s a bottle of whiskey and 3 pints, with more added on the return trip. I'm not sure that the film would be made with such a jocular tone these days - there'd be warnings about exposure, liver disease and staying away from the shotgun when you finally got home.
Quality film and very much reminded me of Manx hill farmers where I grew up back in the 80s.

Tempted to nip out tonight and hide half a dozen bottles of Bells on my local trails......
Please don't leave any bottles of bells lying around anywhere. At least make it a decent malt 😁

During the immediate post-lockdown phase of Covid we had a weeย Beerienteeringย group here in the Strath. Hide a couple of cans, take photos showing the approximate location (usually with a landmark visible), then post them in a Facebook group for others to find and then to hide their own cans in other interesting places. When lockdown eased and the group started to go quiet I did a bit of "tidying-up" but I reckon there might still be a couple of cans out there in the wild.ย
