[Closed] Problem fitting brake caliper after adding a 203 rotor & adapter

Hi, I decided to change the front disc rotor from 180 to 203 for more braking power for my weight. I asked what adapter I should get on here from moving to a 203 rotor on a 2016 fox 34, I bought this one Here

The new adaptor screws on to the fork as normal the issue I am having is with the silver shimano bolts that screw the caliper to the adapter. All of a sudden I can't seem to tighten the caliper anyway near tight and it still wobbles.

Sounds like the bolts are probably bottoming out in the adaptor.
Check the length of them against the adaptor and possibly try shorter ones.

Yep swap some bolts around you need some fairly short ones for the caliper now and the standard ones are quite long other option is to use washers on the caliper side

As splash-man said you could try shorter bolts, or whack some washers between the top of the caliper and the bolt heads to take up the slack space. Depends if you've already done that and how many washers you need to put in though...

I don't see any reason why the bolts should be bought from Shimano. The bolt standard needed is M6 Cap Head. If you want to buy some bolts of the correct length then you could search amazon for "M6 cap head" and have them posted to you. Alternatively, you could actually just saw your existing bolts down to size. You may need to do some work with a triangular file to clear the end of the thread if it won't initially engage.

Are you sure that you haven't mixed the bolts up . The ones that attach that adapter to the fork leg are slightly different to the ones that attach the brake caliper to the adapter .

If you can't find any shorter bolts have a rummage for a hacksaw or a file.

Yeah I'm. Pretty sure we'll the adaptor came with two shorter bolts so i presume they are the ones for the forks

Make sure you order some of equal tensile strength (there are probably numbers on the bolt head.
If you are not sure, then get hi tensile ones, not stainless ones from screwfix.

Thanks for the help I HD no appropriate bolts so I took the advice and used some washers of a old sram adaptor I had. I was one short so used two thin ones on top and 1 bigger one on the bottom, centered the rotor jobs a good in thanks all

Thanks I'll keep that in mind, in fact I'll just go into screw fix one around the corner.
