I'm getting a bit stuck fitting my new Shimano BB92 press-fit bearing cups. It all slides in OK, and in good alignment (with the correct tools of course) but the sharp edge of the 2.5mm spacer just doesn't want to go into the BB shell.
I've not given it any welly yet as I'm worried the spacer will split as it's only thin plastic.
I quite like PF overall, but much preferred the metal 2.5mm spacers of screw-in BB cups.
Anyone else had this issue ?
Is the spacer meant to go into the shell? Mine doesn't. It sits outside just like on a standard threaded HT2 BB.
The spacer goes behind the drive side cup does it not.?
Yes, between the shoulder of the BB cup and the BB shell. On mine at least...
Sounds about right. If the spacer pressed into the frame what would it be spacing.?
Thanks guys
You're correct Neilsonwheels, the spacer wouldn't do anything inside ๐ณ
I really don't remember seeing the spacer on the original BB - I could swear the cups where flat against the shell, but there must have been one as it was on the cup after I removed it.
I think the spacer just stands out more with the new one, as the cup is a different colour (cheapo grey XT !)
Next time, I'll remember to do before and after photos. Here's 'after'...
