25 ish miles - 90 mins

That's a 17 mph average, including 'Le Col du Gran Batard'.
๐Ÿ˜ฏ

So, for that reason,
[s]I'm go to stay in and dress up like Hilary [/s] I'm out.

Thanks anyway ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh, sod it, might join in for the first bit back to Radcliffe.....

Yours,
Pete, average speed 13 and 3/4.

You'll be reet Pete. Remember the first and only rule of The Prestwich Pub Ride

1. Nobody gets dropped*

* Unless you are a ####.

BTW, we'll grovel up Le Col Du Gran Batard and, due to our immense and manly statures, hurtle down the other side with all the grace of a piano down a lift shaft.

Also... Louis was pushing the limits of Rule 1. last week by turning up with a broken bike then taking the piss out of one of the fastest guys on the planet. He was lucky that the pace wasn't upped until we were all dead.

No respect, some people.

And I blame Molgrips for me getting lost:

He believed me when I said 'I'm fine at the back on my own'.
What I actually meant was 'Please don't leave me alone to get bummed by werewolves'. ๐Ÿ™

Cleared with babysitter. Should be at the back with Rusty Spanner for the first part of this trip.
Hopefully I will have 2 pedals fitted this time and will be polite & sensitive.
For the record, it was Rusty Spanner who made Terrahawk go all quiet by making comments about getting his bike finished by adding some gears. I was just being friendly by pointing out it looked like it was ready for some paint.
Why do you guys like the dark so much?

Why do you guys like the dark so much?

1. Because we have small children.
2. Because we have lights.

3. Because we're the spawn of Satan and dissolve when coming into contact with direct sunlight

It isn't too bad actually. Up hill drag to a place called Affetside, followed by what is basically a 10 mile downhill to the pub with a couple of little climbs in it.

Right ho.

I'm considering riding to the start point from Preston.

Although, that'd get me in late. Anyone coming back this way afterwards by car?

Should be there, work permitting.
Ms Spanner is coming too

Just been out to paint everyone's name on the tarmac:
Harry, couldn't fit yours on so just put your e-mail address and drew a picture.

Nice one Wors, 4th Cat eh?

We carry on for another 1/2 mile up to Affetside Cross, but the gradient slackens off enough for there to be both Green and Polka-Dot points available at the top.

I once considered making some little origami shirts, laminating them and handing them out at rides. You know, spotty one for whoever's first to the top of a climb etc.

Have a problem with my bike - brought shoes with shimano cleats, intending to swap my old Looks for the newer Shimano pedals, only to find the pedals are seized. I've been out for a bigger Allen key this lunchtime, hopefully it'll sort it out. If not, I can't come.

I've got a pedal spanner if you want to borrow it. You'll have to drive over to mine though (only 2 miles from the pub) as I'm not riding about with it sticking out of my pocket.

Email me before 4:30 if you want it. Laptop is dead so I can't see my mails outside work.

Now THAT was fun. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice to meet everyone (again, in some cases) and put some faces to names - good route, friendly pace and stunning evening. Nice pint afterwards too.

Dave, John, Ben etc, sorry we didn't say goodbye, didn't realise you were diving off back up Affetside.

Anyway, cheers folks, must do that again sometime.

To be fair we made a last minute decision to redo the Col to get back to Bolton as we knew it was going to end late for us

Was the perfect weather and company...good to meet you all.

The one with the red star on her hat looks a bit like you. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Dunno what is happening next week. We need to come up with some different on and off road routes to stop it getting dull.

I managed to clock up 28.5 Royal Imperial Miles (45 dirty communist french euro miles). I think Molgrips probably doubled that!

6 of my Royal Imperial Miles were the commute to and from the start, 3 were wasted going back for my rear light that had bounced off somewehere in Tottington and another 1 was from circling in the pub car park waiting ๐Ÿ˜‰

DONK, did I just see you "training" on Bury Old Road at 5:00pm this evening?
