I know this has been done several time before, but let's assume for a moment I'm being a lazy-ar$e this morning 🙂

What's the best Power Link (ideally) or Lock (would be fine) for a 10 spd Shimano road chain?

Ta.

A 9-speed Powerlink will be fine.

I guess this is borderline trolling, so apologies in advance, but I'm forced to ask why?

Last I checked, Shimano joining pins were cheaper than powerlinks/locks and if you're prepared to use a powerlock (i.e. not be able to open the link again) then why not use a pin?

You'd be carrying a chain tool anyway and joining pins take seconds to install?

I guess I don't see the sense in going out of your way to find another manufacturer's alternative to a solution developed precisely for your chain. Is there some drawback to using joining pins that I'm not aware of?

PowerLINKs can be reused and work fine. The chain can be removed and refitted without a tool. What's not to like?

I got the impression Bristolbiker wasn't too fussed about removing the chain as he said he was be happy to use a powerLOCK.

Frankly, I just don't like powerlinks once SRAM saw fit to start charging so much for them 😕

I would like a Link to make taking the chain on and off for cleaining easier.... and it seems like there is a solution for that.

I would have put up with a lock, rather than using the joining pins 'routinely', as it seems like a better solution if I was going to have to split the chain as (IIRC) the pins plastically deform the plates, hence it's not a good idea to break/rejoin the chain at the same location.

If I'm 'out in the field' I tend to carry spare power links, rather than pins as it's less hastle to push out the duff links with a chain tool and then put the chain back together in a matter of seconds with a spare power link.

KMC missing link - I have reused SRAM power link 10sp with a link remover a few times without any issues 🙂
