Yep, bit of wood, a couple of self tappers, couple of washers and a couple of bits of offcut innertube.

Or even a threaded rod, 4 nuts and a few washers.

Go to the tip and cut an old hub out of an abandoned apollo

I find that a dry board marker is about the right length too. Just hold it in with masking tape.

You can then wander around saying "I have wood".
