Can you use normal tyres and tubes on a tubeless rim?

Any response appreciated.

Thanks

yes. I have 6700 ultegra wheels on my road bike, they are designed to be able to take road tubeless (of which there arent many around) but take normal "clincher" tyres fine. You dont need rim tape as there is no spoke bed.

I did have an 'interesting' time getting some wired Bontrager Race-Lites on to a set of 6700s... it was very easy to pinch the inner tube.

Michelin pro 3s went on mine fine, but have had plenty of tyre-rim combos that have been hard work.

Conti 4000S seemed to go on fine on mine.

I got mine from ribble a few weeks ago, with all their weird multiple discounts they came in cheaper than On One, and less than a used pair went for on eBay the same week...

Ordered a pair of ultegra wheels from on one yesterday, £220, arrived less than 24 hours later.....

Quite pleased, getting the tyres on was a right sod tho...
