I can get a good discount on Polar hrms but not sure which one to get. The deal is I can get one through pru health and when I upload my data I get points=prizes yadayadaya.
I already have a Garmin Edge 205 so don't need the bike specific hrm and I'm not training for any events, so do I go for a basic F6 @ £35, F11 @ £55, FT40M @ £65 or FT60M @ £90?
i've got a cs200 cad bike specific and has a two bike option but you say not bike specific so erm.......
It is good if susceptible to interefrence (gives high peak bpm) from my exposure light
Get one that you can download to a p.c. the F11 uses the sonic download via a sound card and then get a copy of Polar personal trainer or use www.polarpersonaltrainer.com free website
my local halfords bikehut are doing garmin 305's with cadence and hrm for £135.
my advice is to sell the 205 and buy one of those.
It has to be a polar hrm because of the tie up between pru health and polar. All the ones I listed can upload to a PC, just wondering which one is best or go for the cheapest.
The F ones are really fitness/gym orientated. You might find them annoying on a bike and they don't work with the bike handlebar adapter afaik. My Mrs's old-style F11 was a bit rubbish.
The new F11 is good my mate uses it regularly
My wife has an F series (F 11 I think). It tries to do too much for you, working out zones and how much exercise you should do etc. Its fine for the gym but I prefer to set those things myself.
My advice is try and make a list of the functions that you think you'll ned and then try to find one that fits your criteria , in my opinion I would buy the most expensive one I could afford
. As an iside Lloyds pharmacy do a HRM for £10 which does the basics, it might be worth getting that and see how you go with it and then decide from there
I have a flash Polar jobbie with everything Inc Altitude on it, plus a simple F11. If setting up an easy training program is what you want (the whole purpose of a HRM) I'd go for this as it does it all for you. All you have to do is get your ticker into the right spot for the right period of time and you're sorted. The more sophisticated models are just that and require self programming. Plus they're much more conspicuous and obviously fitness nutter related. So you can’t be a fat tw*t and wear one with out feeling self conscious.
