Is it possible to plot a road/off-road route on Google Earth and measure its distance? If so, how d'you do it?

I just select the ruler tool and choose the path setting. You can then plot the route and get a distance. Sadly you can't then save the route however.

Just use Mapmyride.com - same info plus a tool that maps, measures and stores routes - magic!

Not quite as well integrated as mapmyride.com, but it has Ordnance Survey maps too. Much better for offroad route planning.

Thanks for both those suggestions. Have temporarily lost myself on Mapmyride, but hopefully not for long!

Thanks to the genius of Mapmyride, I'm feeling smug as my commute this morning was longer than I thought - 12.62 miles ๐Ÿ™‚
