Hi
I have a weeks annual leave starting today and my bike build is finished all but the wheels. I have hope pro 2 evo hubs and Spank spike evo rims I need to no what size spokes to use I have tried the spoke calculators but can't figure out the measurements. Could any one please please please tell me what size spokes I need so I can get some riding in before the grind of work starts all over again
Cheers
if ya plan on building wheels (incl. learning how to measure your hubs and rims), roger's ebook is brilliant and well worth the money:

Measure the rim and put the dimensions into the DT spoke calc.

What measurements do in need? I'm not building them halfords are but its taking ages because they say there having trouble finding out what size spokes it needs.
Make sure you put the correct measurements in.
A quick google...
Your rim's ERD is 525mm. The hubs should be on the spoke calc already. Then you just tell it you want 3x lacing. In my experience the DT lengths always come out a bit long - say by 1 or 2mm.

a very quick google (as in the first result!) reveals the ERD of your rim is 530mm. Dimensions for the hubs will be on the hope website or indeed any shop that sells them. Two minutes on the dt swiss spoke calculator would give you the spoke lengths.
I don't know what your halfords' problem is. If i didn't have two small children whining in my ear about dinner i would work it out myself.

Using the wheelpro site:
Front: 252 disc / 254 non disc
Rear: 254 non drive / 253 drive
Given this has just taken me 5mins to get the required info, I really wouldn't trust Halfords to build those wheels...

This is why you need a decent shop to build them up - apparently both ERDs are correct... You'll need to try one set of spokes and see what happens.

touché, gee 😀
blimey, 5mm is a lot of 'tolerance' for a manufacterer/reseller to disagree about isn't it?! Depending on your hub flanges and number of crosses that could be 2-3mm difference for spoke length. Maybe the halfords mechanic is also struggling with this bit...
I doubt halfords will want to to try a set of spokes for size and then use a different length afterwards, indivivdual shops may well order in the number and size of spokes specially rather than having a load of different lengths in stock.
If the shop has the rims already, they could string a gear cable through opposite holes of the rim and measure the exposed part, repeat a few times around the rim to make sure it isn't a bit egg shaped to start with, there's your effective rim diameter. (Of your actual rim, regardless of the conflicting websites 😕 )
