I live in Monifieth, in Scotland and a keen mountain biker. Me and a couple of my buddies plan to head down to The Lake District and are wondering where to stay (Possibly the weekend of the 29th July, staying 3 nights) We would rather some place biker friendly and secure bike storage over night is required,
Anybody any suggestions?
Much appreciated,

I stayed http://www.hartsop-fold.co.uk/ here for 4 nights in March this year. It is located close to ulswater, and at the base of the Kirkstone pass. That is a climb to do after breakfast, 1500ft in 3 mile.... Took my road bike and kept it in the lodge. Lodge is clean and quiet, no screaming kids (except mine). Is quite laid back they email you a password for entry to the reception area where you collect your keys and you probably wont even see any staff until you leave. Cant say if this location is any good for MTBing but seems quite central for the lake district if you check the map. p.s. avoid windermere unless you are over 60 like eating ice-cream and wandering aimlessly
Links on the Keswick Mountain Bikes site here - scroll down to the bottom for accomodation. Ambleside is 20 mins down the road by car, but loads of good riding from/around Keswick
Fell foot hostel was fantiastic. Not really a hostel at all, more of a B+B but for 20 quid a night. Great breakfast, and cakes in the afternoon. Really friendly hosts and very mtb friendly. Also ace curry house near by.
