So ordered a stem and bars from planet x 10 days ago, the day after some shoes, these were sent by royal mail then returned by collect plus and a replacement pair sent by royal mail to my address no problems. The bars and stem sent from Yorkshire went south to Lichfield and were unable to be delivered address unknown so returned to sender, I live in Lancashire. Called Planet X spoke to a really nice bloke yes will phone yodel now will be delivered, back on to the tracking time and date, delivery refused says Yodel, at that time and date I was actual out the front of the house painting windows. So call PLanet X explain that the yodel had said I need to speak to sender, his response was will email and get back to you in 24 to 48 hrs, I asked was this a common occurrence with yodel and the response was I SHOULD HAVE USED A DIFFERENT SENDER FROM THE LIST PROVIDED. I HAVE TO SAY HE WAS Disinterested really and the vibe was I should have known better. I called Yodel and tried to speak to an operator , 40 mins nothing. So I have to say disappointed with my whole experience and feel as a customer, I have had very little support, a sense from the sellers representative I should have known better not to have used Yodel and completely deflated with Planet X and On ONe who have lost one customer and wont be getting my recommendation to anyone else.

There is a reason why Yodel is free. I wouldn't use them if I got a discount on the sale!

I paid the extra £2 for DPD last time around. Even on a small purchase that's worth it.

2 companies with hardly the best reputation for customer support, use at your own discretion/risk 🙄

I knew there was a reason I pay the extra for DPD delivery.

Looks like you've been on the forum for years, so surely must know of the reputation of both companies, and still purchased from them.

I normally pay the £2 and use DPD. If you do, on the PX website go into your order history and follow the link to track your parcel. Once you get to the DPD site, you can add your mob no and email and they text you a 1 hour slot when the courier will be with you. PX should really do that for you like other retailers but I work around the issues as PX have some good stuff at good prices.

Saying that, planet x are a bit strange themselves as I placed an order a few weeks back, selected DPD and paid the £2. The next day I remembered something that I hadn't ordered the first time so placed another order with royal mail delivery and the royal mail item got to me before the DPD item had left the warehouse 🙄

Never had an issue with PX but have with Yodel - not just from PX.
Always use DPD now with PX and any other supplier.
Last order from PX was £800+ and here the following day one minute after the hour slot started on the text sent !!!

Not totally sure they care. They sent me the wrong part recently. They answer about 1 in 5 emails and didn't pick up the phone. Had to open a paypal dispute to get anything like a proper response and even that lacked any detail or understanding.

I think it's a positive step that they offer the ability to select DPD who are excellent, and well worth the £2 for avoiding the yodel hassle.

Is this a PX or a Yodel bashing thread? Is the former, I'm out, I've ordered a lot from them and it has pretty much always been a pain free experience. And I agree with Stoner, the ability to pay £2 to go with DPD is a nice touch and a no-brainer decision.

Yodel however is a different game altogether. My favourite being that my "safe place" would be the wheely bin, the wheely bin that is at the top of the drive, the wheely bin that is at the top of the drive as it is bin day...

I'm surprised more companies don't have DPD as the default recommendation and an option for free delivery with some other courier with a warning next to it stating that it might be a bit shit.

yes been here for years 😳

but as an optimist went for cheapness after asking opinions on stem and bars on here.

Yes could have paid more, did not for the shoes they were sent royal mail

so why should plant x use a sub standard service on one item and a better service on another?

Maybe more margin on the more expensive item, or maybe an insurance thing.

Don't really understand why people go for the cheapest company, despite their reputation, and choose the cheapest delivery option, despite their reputation, and then complain about the poor service!

These days mostly use Wiggle with Royal Mail or DPD delivery. Not the cheapest but they've never let me down, never sent the wrong item, always been excellent on free returns with collect+, etc. Just the least hassle.

Yodel and the likes are only as good as the people they use locally to you. Our local guy is great, leaves a card with his number on it if he misses you, ring him when your home and he pops round in the evening with it.

Try getting that from Royal bastard mail.

this. Unfortunately it inevitably means the end user delivery service ends up very variable. We must be lucky in central Sheffield - I've never had a problem with them.

There we go, that's my next delivery jinxed.

Can I add the useless lumpy lardy arsed no mark from TNT that didn't delv my frame last night because either

a) he couldn't find my address, or b) he did know my address but couldn't get the van up the drive way, or more likely c) couldn't be arsed.

rubbish

Don't Yodel now do the collections and delivery for Collect+?

They delivered my fat bike on time with no problems, I did have to help the guy remove it from the van though, I've never seen such a big box. Just be thankful they don't use MyHermes *shudders*

the only cock-up i've had from PlanetX/on-one was the time i ordered an Alfine8, and they sent me an Alfine11 by mistake.

Yodel? - every single delivery turns into an epic.

every.

single.

one.

My Fatty arrived upside down and looked like it had been dragged across the warehouse like that (box worn through and lock on colar scuffed) and the driver was (probably) stoned.

Other than that IME Yodel have been fine, but there is a big box for them to drop stuff in by the door and I usualy write that in the instructions.

Currently experiencing P-X warrenty, which has taken about a month to sort a loosening headset, which is a long time, but not unreasnoble. Getting a £60 set of carbon bars as compensation which is nice. Especialy seeing as it was one of the £640 fatty's so not a big ticket item in the first place!

*£800 once I'd added carbon forks and floaters.

I ordered last week with Yodel delivery and it turned up the next day.
I only live down the road from PX too.
I think a lot depends on the end courier in the chain.
Both yodel and Myhermes end delivery people here are great so I have no issues using them.

Ok Royal Mail works and I used them. Sadly the sent me something I didn't order and don't have the item I wanted/ needed not much of an apology for what basically either incompetence or a big con.

I use myhermes a lot for ebay and I'll say this for them, they're an organisation that knows their own failings- their turnaround for lost items is fantastic. They've lost 2 parcels for me and yes it's annoying but it's quick and no quibble to fix. Kind of the Hope approach 😉

Even the cheapest option should offer a decent service, anything else is an upgrade.

Although saying that Wiggle many to royally up yesterdays order!
Ordered at 16:40, at checkout says "delivery on or before 21/04/15 if ordered in the next xyz"
Place order, get conformation email, later get tracking email.
So stay in today seeing as I've paid the £4.99 for the DPD Next Day....
Guess what..
DPD gave no package, Wiggle say "Oh thats being delivered tomorrow"
"politely point out that - no - it clearly stated xyz..."
"Sorry - we have a 3pm cut off....."
"Sorry says I... but I'm on your site RIGHT NOW" and it says if ordered in the next 9hrs 46mins...."
"says Wiggle... we appear to have an IT problem..."
`no s.... Sherlock!
So the meeting I cancelled today, that now is happening tomorrow and cant be cancelled then means not only have I paid for next day delivery - I'm not getting it now till god knows when as I'm the other end of the bloody country till after the weeken...
That'll be why I paid for Next Day delivery.....

@ hammyuk go to dpd website once given parcel code and you have a few options to select new day or delivery to a neighbour. Dpd are the best I've used
