Looks like I am moving to the east of Castleford in the near future and was looking at the OS map to see if there are many places to cycle that I wouldn't need to drive to. I have seen there is lots of riding West of Leeds but wouln't mind finding some stuff that would be local. I am happy to ride 6ish mies of road to get to somewhere that is worth riding but stugeling to figure out what is good from looking at the map.

i live east of cas, where are you moving too? there are lots of off road places to ride that dont need much road riding to link them up in the ledsham, fairburn, brotherton, knottingley area. some good stuff along the river aire where the new A1 goes over it. not many bw but a lot of fp that hardly get used. hope that helps.

I will be on the east edge of ferry fryston backing on to where the Aire goes under the new A1. That is good to know that there is stuff local, sounds like i will need to ask for a guided tour once i get moved.

no problem mate. there is a railway bridge with a footpath over it next to the a1 bridge that crosses the river aire. you can access that from a path out of the north east of ferry fryston on keswick drive. take the path towards the shit farm then bare left to the railway track. follow the railway to the right, over the bridge and from that point i could meet with you and show you around without the fear of being mugged or murdered on the badlands side of the bridge. make sure you are carrying, ak47 or mp5 works well but rpg is overkill plus you wont fit it in your camelback, only joking! when you moving? and where are you from?

i know what you mean tony i try to stay on the fairburn side of the river for a local ride. there are some not bad track to ride on near fryston village where the old pit used to be but i would stay away from airdale on the bike. too many shitheads and pikeys for my liking.

Hopeuly moving over Christmas time. Not got a date yet.

From essex been living out in Malton then out near Sherrif Hutton for the last few years.

I was worried what the area was like but was asured by family that the bit we are moving to is ok. We are moving to the very north east corner, Airdale is further south right? I have been aroud quite a few times now and that top corner seems ok.

I did see that other post after I had made this one. I will try and meet some of those guys too.

I have finaly moved.

I am just getting over a chest infection but if the offer of a local tour (slow one) is still on Davo that would be really helpful.

Cheers.
