Looking for some knee / shin protection.
Nothing too hardcore needed and needs to be confortable pedalling up.
I see that CRC have the DaceFace DH stuff on offer in my size (XL)
So, anyone got this? How is it?
Any other reccommendations??
I was looking for replacements for Rally DH pads recently and thought I'd go with the ones from CRC as I already know they fit and are comfy - and were a bargain £27!
The design had changed a little from a few years ago and I've got a bit of an issue with the tops of them rubbing on the sides of my legs, creating sore spots 🙁
Tried wearing a pair of knee supports yesterday instead of faffing with plasters and it worked fine - skin left intact!
Have had this issue before with other pads, but don't think I did with my original RF ones. Otherwise I'd say get 'em, especially if still cheap. Good for pedalling in and v. good crash protection.
Or there's these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=39500
I just bought some 😀
Was originally looking for knee only hard shell pads, but found nothing I at a price I liked - worth a mere tenner to find out with these I reckon.
Be wary of them in the bigger sizes - if the shin part is too long for your leg, the plastic will dig into the front of your ankle when you pedal, which gets bloody painful.
My other gripe with them was that the velcro straps were always clipping trees or the frame and opening, leaving me with loose pads and dangling straps.
This sort of stuff isn't usually my bag but I bought a set of kyle strait kneeguards for my alps trip in the summer and thought they were good...until I bought a set of poc elbow pads and really REALLY wished I'd seen the poc stuff 'in the flesh' before I'd bought the kyle straits. If i had my time again I'd definitely be buying poc stuff for legs and elbows.
Thanks Rob,
Just punted on the RF rally DH leg and arm.
All for 50 minus 5 minus 3% quidco, about 43.50 all in.
Now have some knee only and Elbow only 661 hardshell pads that will soon be on the classifieds, only used a handfull of times.
