[Closed] Perthshire/Fife riders - tracks behind Knockhill?

I've been corrected before when I've assumed this region was Fife but I genuinely can't tell from the maps lol.

Anyway, looking to fill in a wee gap in my 'go-to' gravel loop starting/finishing at the Forth Road Bridge. Once I get up and over Cleish hill and descend from Loch Glow I end up just downhill from Knockhill race track. Previously I've then just descended south again on tarmac or fought along a busy flat headwindy road to the next gravel section at Steelend.

HOWEVER there appears to be a track running from Knockhill to Balgonar running through some old mine workings etc. This looks great, a bit of industrial heritage, some added gravel, and avoids the busy headwindy road.

Has anyone ridden or walked it? There's also a route shown heading south between Knockhill and Saline Hill but it looks vague on the ground...

Not ridden the one you described but years ago I did a track from the road east of Steelend which went round Knockhill to the A823. It was an unmitigated sloppy mess. Stuartie C may have more knowledge than me on current conditions/viability as he lives in Saline now.

OK, from your description of where it starts that sounds (I hope) like the track between the Saline Hills and Knockhill, the one I thought was vague on the ground. Did it improve at all as you got behind Knockhill?

Vaguely recall it being better, yes. Talking 8 or so years ago though!
