My Pace RC39s are in need of a service and I thought I'd tackle it myself to keep the cost down - just a new set of seals and some oil, shouldn't cost too much you'd think.

I contacted Pace and they quoted £32 for the wiper seals, £12 for o-rings and postage on top; this seems kind of pricey to me for a handful of rubber seals. By the time I add a bottle of oil I'd be as well sending them to the dealer, which seems crazy.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get seals elsewhere?

I'd be tempted to call Tim at ForkEnglish - I am in the same boat, and I know the Pace fork seals for RC39's are unique to Pace (ref the "Pace" logo in the moulding), however I think the important bit is the internal and external diameters. If you find any that look similar they should be a double lip seal (will be a better sealing wiper and should keep water out and oil in)

Quite. I bought some for my RC41s, same price. They aren't standard though, there is a cutout section to clear the fork bridge. What a bastard to get out! The new ones were stupid tight to get in, too. Have fun!

new ones are virtually impossible to get in. Tim at Fork English only keeps a stock for his own use on servicing so he recommended i got them from Pace direct (this was for RC41s mind)
