Hi,

I'm trying to disassemble an old X9 rear mech (08 I think). I've removed the jockey wheels and now want to get a look in the lower pivot. The spring that keeps the chain tension seems to have lost it's strength, having seen a service guide for X0 there seems to be a way of changing the location point for the internal spring to allow for this. However I can't work out how to get at it...

Anyone done this?

it says for the X0 and I'm not sure if the X9 has that same facility

Hmmm. The X9 doesn't have a cage stop screw. Does anyone know if that means it's unservicable?

bend the metal (only alloy) stop out of the way and rotate to same position and withdraw. Re position insert turn and bend metal back.
you can actually file off the platic bit on the black plastic mech cover bit if you prefer but this is a permanent removal (though you rotate the mech when fitted so it does not impare function)

I'll try that. I think my plastic bit has 'gone' anyway, no doubt due to some over enthusastic maintenance at some point...
