Just about to buy some new bars but at 105 kg should I avoid carbon?
Thanks

I’m in that region and I’ve had many a set of carbon bars. All of which are still fine. Go for it.

Theyre probably a good choice.

I topped out at 105 and never questioned the strength of my on one knuckleballs.

Really the force you can apply is down to your arms not your weight. A pro weighing 80kg and bench pressing 80kg+ and running harder fork damping settings will be putting much bigger forces on the bars than an unfit amateur.

Also about 105kg here and never had an issue. I’m a fan of Chromag BZA Carbon and old Crank Bros Iodine 2.

Tests are based on riders around that weight and performance in the test will be based on a safety factor of 3x or more.

It's bad layup/quality, fitting errors or crashes that weaken/break carbon parts, not the loads that general riding puts on them.

That's exactly right.
Carbon fibre is an fantastic material.

The main risk is in the process of quality control. Some manufacturers are able to catch the "bad" bars before shipping. Others not.

Statistical problem. You will do the real quality control with your 100kg...
Pretty sure that the engineering and material is fine.

Another carbon bar user north of 100kgs here, raceface on both MTBs and fizik and 3t bars on the roadie. Did a fair bit of CX/Gravel riding on some pretty flexy old bontrager carbon bars with no worries

It’s fine, various sets of carbon bars 20 or 30kg heavier than the OP’s weight with no issues.
