Presently building a XC bike and liking the idea of an oval ring for 1x11.
My question is whether my other two bikes with round rings will feel weird?
I have a doval oval ring on my road bike and standard rings on my Salsa spearfish.
Noticed a difference to start with but I think that was more the getting used too the different pedaling technique on the oval rings.
If anything I think its actually improved my pedaling technique on standard rings!
Doesn't feel any different - in a good way. I do feel I can push a 34T rather than 32T with the same rear ratios though.
Yeah, I've got 2 round ring bikes and 2 ovals, there's no feeling of weirdness between them. TBH the fatbike's the only one I notice a big difference on but even then it's not "ooh oval chainring", it's just less bouncy pedalling a low gear.
