As above

Im an amateurish roadie and need some kit help

My shoes have loads of vents and holes in them
In summer this is errrr cool (sorry)
In winter with a pair of neoprene overshoes its OK too

My probs are autumn and spring
The overshoes are too hot and sweaty but its not warm enough to go barefoot

There seem to be two choices:

A sock type thing like this but not in white obviously

Or a half arsed overshoe just doing my toes

and heres another halfie type thing

Anyone??

Shoes too tight - I get this MTB when I wear neoprene socks and they are done up too tight?

Sealskinz or some other waterproof sock, wear them pretty much all the time to keep my feet warm.

Are your shoes loose enough to wear some sealskin type socks or merino woolie boolies? That works for me in the cooler months.

Buy THESE boots

You can't go wrong for £50 but get a size bigger than you normally would.

Wear a hat (trust me, it works)

Your feet get cold due to a lack of circulation, wear a skull cap type garment and your brain is tricked into thinking its warmer than it is, and keeps pumping lovely warm blood down to your feet.

You can wear the sock type thing over the shoes (lots of roadies do and they don't look strange) or by some tinner windstopper overshoes (which is what I do). Generally you won't have enough space in roadie shoes (if they are correctly fitted) to fit a thicker sock.

Belgian booties will get the job done. I've got some castelli ones and they do a fine job. Under a tenner for a glorified pair of socks i know, but comfy and look the business too.

Half arsed overshoes that just cover your toes work for me. Just enough to keep the wind off the front of your feet, but still allow excess heat to escape via the rest of the shoe. Perfick.

There are different grades of neoprene overshoes. Or you could get breathable waterproof ones like I have.

Get a second pair of shoes a size up that are either less vented or allow you to wear wool socks underneath. I rate the lewiskit merino ones.

Cheap solution: Gaffer tape over the vents. I do this in spring/autumn. It works well and if you get too hot you can just throw it away.

Change shoes or buy different socks but then again its not warm anymore crap weather!

Neoprene covers are not so warm and might do the job?
