Hello just been asked this by my nephew who has one on order........i think yes but am now worried

Yes, vertical dropout is designed for gears.

Mine came with geared and single speed dropouts.

There isn't a 29er Vertical Dropout Scandal, so his problems have only just begun.....

That's odd - I've got one with said dropouts and 27 gears

thanks folks...druidh it is also a size 19 which confused both of us as we thought it was 18 or 19.5..........ahh fun and games
