The Fatty Trail reject frame saga.

I recently bought one of the black fat bike frames with yellow stickers where the cranks foul the chain stay. Thankfully the seller is a decent person and has agreed to take it back.

I spoke to On One  about these frames and they reckon that they never sold any of them. On a U.S forum back in 2015 someone was saying how they had a duff one and that OO was recalling them.

Currently there's 5 or so of them on eBay. One seller has 2 of them. Has someone at On One had them out of the back door? Should On One be taking an interest in them?

I have alerted one of the eBay sellers that the frame is probably a reject but he reckons it has a QC sticker on it. Something somewhere is a bit fishy.

If OO are to be believed these frames can only have been stolen . Should OO be looking out for these frames and rightly reclaiming their property to put them out of action?

Who owns the frame I have in my shed?

”My” frame has had at least 3 owners even though it’s never been built up. That’s 3 people needlessly messed around looking for the next unsuspecting punter.

If OO are to be believed

This is where the argument falls apart. A glance at the On One Trustpilot page suggests a more likely explanation.

It's possible oo rejected them at the factory and refused them. The factory then sold them on?

There used to be a bloke in Rutland who used to sell on-one seconds on eBay - golf something.

Had problems with him after he miss advertised a wheelset.

Used to sell a lot of damaged frames.

Didnt they have a massive clearance of stock via an auction, which included a number of dodgy looking frames 3-4 years ago. Think there was a thread on here about it? The suspicion was that these were customer returns, which they had simply sold off and ebay traders had bought and were then selling on as "good".

Edit: was it this one?

Buying warranty returns from an auction , what could possibly go wrong …

Think they did it several times actually. One of reasons why will only buy branded goods from them now and only after checking its not some wierd oem variant, and not in stock elsewhere even if more expensive .

I used to work at a shop. We were careful to properly destroy stuff that we didn't want to see again. Plus it was better than most other jobs we had to do.
