We have had a Marin in the garage for a few years, its old... prob early 90's, anyhow I have stripped it down, paint has all gone and I am about to give it a new paint job, does anyone know what size BB, Heasdet and stem it would take? I am hoping to either put some retro sus forks or rigid carbon forks on it and a cleaner stem. here is a pic of it before I stripped it

Get yer ruler/tape measure out, 68/73mm BB shell and 1" or 1+1/8th HT is pretty obvious with a decent steel ruler on it. For stem length measure the effective top tube length & compare to your current bike.

Required BB axle length is more tricky if you're going to use square taper. Edit: Looks like you've got one in so measure that.

Looks like an old style headset with cup and cone and a quill stem to me.

I reckon 1 1/8" headset - my '91 Marin was 1 1/8" and I think that one is a 92 or 93 model.

got one just like that sat behind me as I try to bash out an old plastic BB. headset is definitely 1 1/8", originally had threaded forks like yours, now has Project II's in almost matching grey.

Intending to rebuild it as something similar to what you just stripped down.
