I'm still a big fan of the Eggbeater, especially for cross racing. When they feel worn I'll either just replace the cleats as that's what feels like has worn. Or rebuild them, and think no more of it.
However it came to my attention that the 'basket' wears, they get a lot of play and a rebuild doesn't fix this.
Anyway, my mate bought new ones and couldn't believe the difference. I fitted new ones last night and raced on them today. **** me what a difference, far greater performance and far less fatigue.
So of you're for ever replacing cleats because they feel worn, have a check for play in the cage/basket thingy bit.
