Is it possible to fit a tapered fork steerer in to a frame only designed for a 1.1/8?

I think I know the answer!

Sometimes! You can get a Cane Crek XX 44mm (IIRC) headset to do it if your frame has an internal headset.

As above, if the frame is designed for a external 1 1/8 headset you can not fit tapered forks, if however the frame is designed for an internal 1 1/8 headset you can buy an external cup for the lower race and fit tapered forks.

Banshee Paradox Mk1. It's almost impossible to find a reasonably priced set of 29er forks with a 1.1/8 steerer and 20mm bolt through axle as my Minutes have given up the ghost ๐Ÿ™

There is a Banshee forum on mtbr which you may find useful? If your wheel could run as 15mm that would give you a wider choice.
