Andrea Leadsom has certainly achieved her goal though - who'd heard of her before this?

I need to stop reading coments pages, the idiotic drivel winds me right up, can't be good for the blood pressure.

Assuming she's an attentionwhore yes, loved by motorists loathed by cyclists, her names getting bandied about quite a lot.

As one learned poster on here summed up well.
"There are stupid, inconsiderate ****s everywhere, some of them ride bikes"

It's always nice to lump everyone in to a huge stereotypical group when trying to get a law changed (or attract attention).

Is there any way of finding out how many cyclists are killed each year as a result of collisions with pedestrians while cycling on the road?

"If, for a moment, I have ever forgotten why I wanted to be an MP, I was reminded yesterday."

I pay for THIS?

Anyone on here out of work and been looking for, oooh, maybe months?
Waiting for a medical scan?
Had your biked nicked? Again?
etc.

So, in recent times more and more people have been cycling. And with this growth, incidence of cyclists being arrogant and aggressive have risen. Could this be attributed to how these new cyclists used to travel. I wonder what means of transport they used to use where being arrogant and aggressive is frequently the norm.

reading the comments on that is so depressing

there is a self-reinforcing circle of hate between nob-end motorists and holier than thou cycloevangelists that makes meaningful online discussion impossible.

I knew all that beforehand, what is depressing is I still started reading it.

If only the former could be stuck on a nice bike in nice weather and forced to do their urban travel like that. And the latter taken off their bikes and trains and given a car for some long rural journeys. Would they be amazed that both methods of transport have their merits when used appropriately?

I do not believe it (said in a Victor Meldrew stylee)!

Take a look on the BBC homepage - the headline/banner article is 'Is dangerous cycling a problem' - basically the number of comments made on the poxy 'article' (c1,100 so far) has promoted it onto the main page.

What a totally depressing state of affairs, or is it just me?
