That should do you
perfect.
What have you bought? 😀
Yeh straight up the canal through Rochdale and littleborough. There is a tiny bit on road near the start but Yeh just follow the canal.
Quite a scenic ride actually, well, once you get past Rochdale lol!
I've done brighouse to Manchester and back a couple of times on that route.
There is an alternative canal route through Stalybridge, up over to Marsden, then huddersfield, mirfield, but there quite a long crappy road climb over saddleworth moor between uppermill and marsden, where you pick the canal back up... so maybe not the best route.
but there quite a long crappy road climb over saddleworth moor
Or some shred and then a pint in the Riverhead.

Matty Fez's route, but no road over the moor, carry on up the canal as far as Diggle, up and over boat lane-standedge cutting-down the trail on the other side towards Marsden Gold club, bit of road.... apply the brakes outside the riverhead, hop back on the canal to Huddersfield.

Also possible with a bit of planning to vary it as you leave Ancoats to throw in Clayton Vale trails, Daisy Nook, Park Bridge, Hartshead Pike and drop into Saddleworth via Mossley.... not the flattest, but more interesting than the canal
Tony,
You can ride out of Manchester all the way out to Hebden along the canal.
Just check that all of the canal is open.
They are 'upgrading' it in parts and there may still be sections closed after the floods.
All fine between Luddenden and Brighouse, but dont know about the section between Littleborough and Hebden
(Shona or Greg may know more)
Littleborough to Hebden along canal is fine (..and busy).
It is open all the way, I often go on the canal from near Piccadilly to Tod, but there are quite a lot of locks getting out of Manchester, so some smaller side roads (I use Collyhurst Road and Hazelbottom Road) will save a lot of time. Gets much flatter from Middleton/Castleton onwards, and actually fairly pretty around Rochdale (ignoring the fact that one is actually IN Rochdale). The surface is quite poor between Walsden and Todmorden, larger tyres (or the road) recommended for those sections. Nice again after Tod.
canal to rochdale, as per evans cycles ride it event up heart attack hill to above delph then straight across down willykay clough into marsden , over to meltham, honley woods, castle hill , lepton grange moor , briestfield morley
plenty of options, a bit of road in places.
happy to bang up some os mapping of the offroad bits
Are you home yet, Ton?
