I have said hub on my rear wheel and it's stopped engaging when i pedal. I just get a lot of clicking and don't go anywhere. I've had the freehub off and everything looks fine but when I put it back on the bike it just spins straight away. It engages fine off the bike if I try to turn the freehub by hand. Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

I'm travelling to Eurobike on Monday with Dale who's the head mechanic at CRC. I'll ask him if you like.

I hear "too much grease" can be a problem.

Thanks that'd be good! Last summer I had the too much grease issue so have been taking that into mind. This happens even when the whole 'engagement area' is totally dry though.

Don't suppose that you managed to get any info on this?

is the generator the one with the wedge pawl that engages in 120point pickups?

aha - just found it on CRC too:

I assume you're confident that the springs are freely pushing the pawls into the centre when the freehub body is removed?

Yeah, I just refitted it yesterday and sometimes it'll engage but about 80% of the time it doesn't (this was just with the bike upside down and pushing the pedals). Could it be something like the springs aren't pushing back out quick enough?

Also, when the freehub is removed the springs appear to be working fine.

see whether the frehub body or the seal are impeding the springs when the freehub body is tighteneed down? Is the seal on the right way round? Is the freehub body full fitted home?

I might double check the seal actually, pretty sure that it's on right though. I'll try to investigate further but might order some new pawls/springs if all else fails, hopefully that'll fix it!
