I've been pondering giving drop bars another try for a while.

Spotted this on eBay and couldn't resist.

Picked it up earlier today and have spent the afternoon tinkering ready for tomorrow's first ride.

I'm not sure on all the purple, but it'll do for the time being.

My Mezcals are on order. I’m very much enjoying the absurd world of big tyres and drops. I hope you do too. Nice to get a custom frame bag

It's early days but the first ride was a success.

I need to work on my confidence to get in the drops on rough stuff though, that and my fitness.

At the risk of providing instruction I’m not qualified to give, yes you want to be on the drops stood up. Well worth fiddling to make it work. Rotating the bars has a big effect. Rotating forwards raises the drops and brings  them nearer, but does the opposite for the hoods.

EX511 rims and the longest head tube in the known universe - this thing is niche!

Nice! That's a chunky wheel set though - I've got xr391s on my similar-purpose Cascade and think they're overkill at times.

Saw this on the FB group, love it. Bigger is most definitely better IMHO, at least where I live.

The original owner has to be on here as well, surely?

A kona dew with drops was a thing.

Kona Dew Drop. I got one that wasn't quite the right size so smooshed it together with a kona dew deluxe frame.

To create the Kona Dew Drop Deluxe, christ it was a good bike.

Agreed, possibly a bit overkill. I'm a fat biffer though so at least I won't have to worry about knocking them out of true.

Paul klampers too for extra niche points.
