Hi
I'm a novice when it comes to a lot of self bike maintenance, so this may be a silly quesiton but hope someone can help what I'm doing wrong.
my front brake was working very badly so I decided to give bleeding a go - initially I changed the pads but with the bike being a couple of years old thought I should bleed the front brake too. The brakes are Avid Exilir 1's. I followed the helpful video on youtube for Avids and the instructions as best I could but only got so far. I prepared the surringes (brake calliper one 1/2 full of new fluid, brake lever one 1/4 full), removed the bleed port screws and attached the surringes, and attempted to push the brake calliper surringe out whilst pulling on the lever surringe. However nothing would budge whatsoever, it was as though the system was locked. The video advised to loosen the reach adjuster on the brake lever, this is something I didnt do as I could not see that the Exilir 1's have any reach adjustment. So I reached a dead end!
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong based on this info?
Thank you

Is there an allen key adjuster in the lever hinge?

My elixir 7's where the same until I adjusted the reach.

Reach adjust is a small (3mm?) hex between the lever and bar, mine is a bit of a PITA to reach with a regular allen key.

Edit - the one on the left above, the other images are for different models
