Me and 3 others. But retiring at belmont for an afternoon on the piss 🙂
Me + Craig...still working on others from Darlo 😕
I am
All being well i'll be joining you all if thats OK???
Maybe one more with me as well..
How long do you reckon the route will take??
don't think so as i'll be rougher than tarzans feet sunday!!! 😆
im tempted, would i keep up on singlespeed? lowey is John coming?
Last I heard he was mate. The pace is very relaxed, you'll be fine.
JxL unless you've been slobbed out on the couch chugging down pie and chips since last summer I'm sure you'll be fine. May have to push 1 or 2 climbs if you're out of practice but I'm sure you'll have company.
I'm in, has lowey booked the weather?
What time are you planing to at rigington? and what is the planed route roughly?
Also are you thinking of taking in the Healey Nab Trail?
I think i may meet you one the trail somewhere...
unless you've been slobbed out on the couch chugging down pie and chips since last summer
Thats me bolloxed then.
Me and my other half will venture out with you guys.
Possibly. As I live in Belmont, it would be rude not to...
Oh, and is there anyone going through Belmont to give a lift? Seems a bit silly me either driving over there only to ride past my house back to the car later, or doing half the ride first over Great Hill and down to White Coppice
we'll be riding from astley Bridge in the morning, and then stopping at the Belmont Bull having a few in the afternoon.
You doing your ride with this lot Wors, or doing your own thing?
With this lot, i'll be with Lowey off here heading over in the morning.
i think i'm going to be along with two more 😆
having a few in the afternoon.

Zokes... we are setting off from Sharples around 8ish, up winter hill, down the shoulder, Belmont road, Ice Cream Run, anglezarke, healy nab and onto Botany Bay to meet everyone. We are then riding back with them as far as Belmont, but we are then stopping in the Bull all afternoon on the piss.
Rightho. What's your eta at the foot of the shoulder on Belmont Rd? My plan for getting there was going to be winch up sheephouse, over spitler's edge, down to white coppice, but happy to follow you guys...
Spitlers would be a bof fest at the moment mate. I reckon we will be Here at about 9.15 ish. We may, depending on the weather, cut down Lead mines rather than the ICR, but will play it by ear.
Email me your mobile and I can always txt you on the way over.

No you will die dont listen to DONK remember how fit he is he took me out for a gentle bimble at weekend 30 miles on SS and 4000ft climbing the b@stard
Mos of it will be rideable except the steep bits but you should keep up but if you have been off all winter it might hurt a bit but you are young and it will make the fat overweight biffers feeld superior when you struggle
Yes I coming assuming my ex-wife does not change childcare arrangements will be arriving by boat
Sounds good to me. Can you email me your contact details then I can let you know if I'm coming? I've not sanctioned this with the home office yet....
but you are young and it will make the fat overweight biffers feeld superior when you struggle
good old Jonny, glad to see you are adopting the politically correct stance again 😆
will be arriving by boat
still think you avin me on with this boat thing.
does it have ladies in bikinis draped over the bow like the piccie in the last post?
it is much more like the Lowey picture sadly
The pub has been informed of our arrival and has thankfully advised that they have plenty of Bank Top on tap.
Jobs a Good 'un.
Excelenté!
plenty of Bank Top on tap
Climbing back over Belmont Road and down the ICR Pi$$ed, that should be good. 😆
I live in Belmont 😆
Cool so you get to do the ICR pissed up then you can go up AICR, hole int wall and get to do san marino again on your way home. Lucky fellaI live in Belmont

Or I could just stagger the 50 yards it is from Alan's fine establishment back to my house 💡
Lowey your going to be cutting it fine, or have you been time trial training? 😆
Piss it mate. 2 hrs to botany bay ? No worries.
he's got a good lead man! 8)
Lowey not sure which way I'm riding over yet but I'm sure at some point our paths will cross around rivi/WH, will you have your moby with you? I might give you a shout.
Yes mate. Thought you were driving over ?
Anyway, we are setting off from Sharples at 7.45. Up coal pit to Winter hill, then straight off the shoulder, meeting Zokes for 9-9.15, down the Ice cream run, then road over to Botany Bay, with the exception of the Singletrack around Anglezarke reservoir.
Right so 9.30 at Bottany Bay then? Weather is looking good!
Haven't ridden since september 2009, gonna be tough 🙂
P.S John is your phone working?? 🙂
soz i can't make it , have a mate over from whitby i haven't seen for about 6 years so catching up on gossip / pints .will be there for the next one , cheers ,
mart
Cant make it now chaps but get some photos posted of the carnage. 😛
Thanks for organising this and ordering decent weather! Glad we bailed out when we did, don't think I could have managed 28 miles! Nice to put some faces to names.
(In case you still don't know, I was the only female there!)
nick, best ride i have done for yonks mate,
awesome.
RIVI ROCKS................... 8)
**** i overslept :-/ girlfriend texted me at 9.30am and i was fast asleep! Still went for a blast afterwards, good weather indeed 🙂
i (hope) to join you guys next time
Cheers for waiting for me guys. 😳 Was a brill ride, only 7 of us at the end.
finding trouble walking at the moment. 😥
Lowey, how was the pi$$ up?
nice beer that flat cap, suffered from it though going back over towards Rivvy.
Note to self. Must get some riding to work in and get back to some form of fitness
Aye cracking ride Nick, thanks for arranging.
Lowey, how was the pi$$ up?
from the text message a received a couple of hours a go, he'll be in a state.
Who was the guy on the lapierre? looked like you cam down hard going down white coppice!
he was OK, full face helmet helped
Cheer's guy's. I'm glad some of us made it all the way round it's what makes it all worth while in the end. I must say i'm bolloxed myself at the mo.
As for the fella on the singlespeed who rode san marino with us all i can say is 'hard bastard'.
I was meaning to ask you chucky, you don't know a guy called Ron Heywood?
sure do wors. Built my engines for 5 years whilst i was racing.
is he still in Standish?
Thanks Nick, great ride and San Marino is amazing.
+1 for the guy on the single speed, he flew past me and into the distance.
yeah he's still in Standish, worked with him for a few years.
Cheers Nick,
Good to meet some more STW'ers, though my legs are now reminding me that im not used to 28 milers. Glad I managed to make it to the very end 😆
PS San Marino / Belmont was better than ever today!
Cheers Nick for a good run out today and a cheeky beer half way. Almost helped me get through that bog on the way back. Good to see Rivi raised a few smiles (there's life in the old dog yet.... No not you Chuckie 😉
Also cheers for showing us a couple of little bits I'd not done before. Good day all round and nice to see a few new faces too.
See yas next time.
PS Watch out or them slippery sleepers in the car park ... somebody should put a sign em or something!!!... sore elbow now for sure... doh!! 🙁
Hic!
Cheers Nick, Cracking day out.
28miles 😯 How much climbing? We did 4,500ft of climbing in 21.5miles the day before.
Lowey,
I spotted the bikes still outside the pub at 6.30 when we went out....
Were you still there then? 😯
How was the wobble home?
I think we left about 7ish. Home via the chippy.
Overall I clocked up about 33 miles by the time I dragged myself in.
Anybody got pics up yet?
I've got a load on my camera at home. I'll put them up tonight.
Who was the guy on the lapierre? looked like you cam down hard going down white coppice!
Yep that was me..... do not fear the quagmire at the top of white coppice had scrubbed most of my speed before the mud took my front wheel hostage. However the soft mud did make for a nice cushioned landing!!! Prehaps one day some sense will be knocked into me... prehaps not
he was OK, full face helmet helped
Helped me sweat my brain out, was like an oven in there!!!! high time an open face was purchased.
Cheers for organsing nick... was a good ride, picked up plenty of new routes round rivi, which is always good.
Also thanks to chris for showing us the way home
will keep my eyes peeled for the next one.. good to meet you all
Dave, didnt see you in the pub so presume you missed the best descent of the lot. San Marino.
Nope we had to miss san marino, my mate had to get back for 2.30 so we bailed half way up rivi and finished off coming down the ice cream run. Only to get a snakebite thanks to a rather large rock suspiciously placed in the landing zone after the drop prior to the sweeping right hander. 😡
Last time i did the san marino it was was pretty much a white out up top with plenty of snow and ice on the downhill making it nice and sketchy in places.
I'm keen to get back up there and reap the benefits of the san marino in more forgiving conditions
Hope you enjoyed the piss-up/ride
Lol, yeah was a great day. Good bike ride in nice weather with good company, and then 9 pints of Bank Top to end the day. Perfecto.
PICS!
Hey loving the pics. Sorry i missed the ride, persuasion is not my strong point.
Well ill just have to join you next time for a...erm...bikeride?...no drink...er what is it you do? 😉
I'll be repeating the ride at some point, as Luke had to miss out due to knackering his knee.
I'm sure on some sunny weekend, we can get you lot from Darlo down, and maybe twin it with something else. Thinking Peaks...
I'm sure on some sunny weekend, we can get you lot from Darlo down
Sounds like a good plan to me - sorry I missed the ride - looks like you had a good'un
Some sunny weekend - Sounds good to me, you get the weather booked in and we'll be there 🙂
sunny weekend...????
whats that?? 🙂
According to Ton on Sunday, if the frog spawn is all over the pond rather than just the edges, it's going to be a great summer. 🙄
These Northern STW rides are not just fun and healthy, they are also educational. A bit like a school field trip with middle aged men. 😆
Hora i reckon it's between 5000-5500ft of climbing i'll show you if you want 😆
between 5000-5500ft of climbing
No wonder I'm buggered.
Izakimak - show me , i dont believe you did that much climbing!
Jellybaby ok, we can sort something out on the next northern chapter ride if you make it( when ever it is), if not my email is in my profile.
Oh yeah, you'll have to bring an altimeter thingy cause my guesstimation's are usually wrong, i was under with the distance and we shaved about a mile and a half off.
Why the doubt? its like the alps little brother around here!
its like the alps little brother around here!
Just a pity the pub's are at the bottom of the climb's and not the top. 😀
Tempting photo's Lowey! Good, hard day out by the looks of it, glad to see Skipton's wounderful brew was sampled. May have to invade your sacred space again in the coming, warmer, months!! I can't get enough of the, erm, ginger flapjack!
