I need some Shimano bh-90 hose. The genuine stuff seems expensive. Is third party stuff as good or is it less hassle to buy genuine?

I've never had a problem with it, is it as good? No idea but assuming it's not complete junk, it's good enough.

The fittings can be garbage but assuming it's for shimano I'd not worry - a everyone makes shimano clones and they're usually find, b your seals will leak before the new hose and fittings become an issue.

I've got some lifeline hoses on my SRAM codes. They're fine.

I've got jagwire hoses have had them for years, apart from the one that got a rock strike, nearly severed it but the inner held pressure
