Just been to the local chip shop and whilst sat waiting for about 20 mins I was watching the local kids on the park constantly doing/trying to do wheelies. Some had got it dialled, some were close and some were no where near and seeking advice from the ones who could. It’s the same park where my mates and I hung around when we were kids doing exactly the same. It bought back memories of endless summers with nothing to do other than meet up in the morning and spend all day riding for no reason other than to be outside and away from parents.
Brilliant, similar for me but initially on bikes we put "cow bars" on to; then Raleigh BMX bikes. Never really nailed the wheelie though. 52 now and entry on pre 60 bucket is to to learn to manual. That said, it was on the pre 50 bucket list too 🙁
"cow horns" we called them feed!
Yes and I still can't wheelie 😀
Never spent time as a kid doing wheelies, still can't really wheelie for toffee now...... 🙂
Yep, another non wheelieing ex-cow horn rider here too.
I used to live next to a huge Halfords and B&Q so after closing time that was our playground. We used to measure wheelies in parking spaces until we could just go forever.
The car park was on a hill with multiple levels so you do drops to flat from 1 to about 5 foot in height.
We also built unbelievably shady ramps from pallets, ply wood and whatever was in the biffa bins.
Looking back it was a pretty perfect training ground! Never knew what dirt felt like until much later though.
Yet another non wheelying ex cow horn user here too.
Felt like those days went on forever.
I've been riding for 28 years & still can't wheelie & at 63 I don't think I need to!
I used to be able to go for miles on the back wheel of a Bulto Sherpa but that was easy cos I didn't have to pedal.
We lived in a quiet village and used to measure our wheelies by white line in the centre of the road .... stand up or sit down had different records ... now 46 and still practice wheelies ever ride
Pretty sure my life would have turned out very differently if only I had learned to wheelie at 11 ...I seemed to have a talent for riding into the back of parked cars though 🙂
