its been a good few years since I last rode a mountainbike at Delamere, probably over five now I think about it ...

anyhow, do any of the old regulars still on here who knew the trails well still ride there ? are trails like Toms Trail, No brains, Perimeter Trail etc still there ?

thanks in advance

Tom's as it was is gone, thats the area they are building roads for the new lodges. There's another one developed down the road a bit towards the farm, but the end of that is affected by the building too.

Perimeter is mostly OK, it's character had probably changed a bit since you rode it.

No brains and skills area still there.

Primrose Wood still ace when it's not too overgrown, as is the stuff behind Old Pale.

Still worth a ride out on balance.

Yeah, most of the paths up to the masts from the forest side were closed off on Saturday, including the DH run, (I assume that's what you mean by Old Pale) They were obviously starting to fell from the road on the west side, it's going to look bloody ugly if they take all the trees right over to the other side.

Had a ride there today, as already said, the trails all around Old Pale are a no go now, you can't get anywhere close due to wire fencing.

Also, they break ground on the new Log Cabin area next month and apparently this will be a three year project before everything is fully open again around there.

The old Greenhouses opposite the visitor centre closed down today ready for work to start on relocation of the new Centre.

We got to the masts on Saturday by riding up the path to the hill Fort, popping out onto Eddisbury Hill for a short bit then followed the footpath from the junction with Stoney Lane to up the valley on the south side of the hill. Didn't even realise there were closures until we got there TBH. There's a couple of PITA gates to lift over, but it's more interesting than just bashing up the roads.

The greenhouses actually went just before June half term holidays.
The forecast completion for the new VC is June 2020 at the moment.
I suspect the trail fairies will clear the Old Pale tracks in the near future, nature finds a way.
